Originally, when I saw DUST on the PSN Store, I thought to myself "it's F2P how good could it actually be". This thought prevented me from downloading for at least a month. I finally gave in out of boredom.

...The immersion. Take some time to just look at DUST, look at the art, the concepts the ideas, the buildings, the weapons, etc... the content itself. On paper, DUST is a brilliant game. It makes a good gameplay trailer. And can be very original.
This is what grabbed me. It pulled me in and hooked me. The depth of character development, it seemed HUGE, in the trailer showing the discovery of the implant, the Amarrian Empress seemed like such an self righteous tyrant that I wanted to cause the Amarr to collapse when she said
"we have been blessed, I will unleash this new power and end the war"
I remember thinking; "what makes her think she deserves to rule over mankind"
I immediatel identified with the statements made by the Gallenteans;
"We cannot allow one nation to control it.
"They have done enough to leave their mark on history."
"The soldiers would be dangerous beyond measure."
"The power they would have, they would be..."
"...immortal"
I wanted to fight for the underdogs. I wanted to take down the tyrants. I wanted to be able to play a role in the shaping of New Eden!
It was exactly what I had been looking for in an MMORPG shooter.
CCP, if you read this, which you will, give us more RPG in game. Let us feel the impact we are having on the universe.
Let us be the Merc we want to be: give us all our Racial Dropsuits! Let us dress in plain clothes inside Merc Quarters, and have the ability to customize our look and the look of our gear!
Give us loyalty rewards for our factions. Give us Pirate Faction Dropsuits! Give us more skills which give passive bonuses to various traits.
Let us interact with each other outside of the battlefield. Give us a Forum we can hang out in. Give us a world to engage our rivals in non-violent disputes. Give us a Market we can go into, instead of a simple menu.
You could even add a radio channel, which plays music and reports the Breaking News in New Eden while we are in Merc Quarters. It would add so much to the game. Fallout 3 and New Vegas had a feature like this, and it was very immersive and entertaining at the same time, because it reported the effects our actions had in the game, making you feel like part of the world you were playing in.
I know all of this would take time, but some things could be added much, much sooner than others. *coughdropsuitscough* |
